Stop and smell the roses! Take a ‘fragrant’ hike along trails of different levels of difficulty in Njivice and Omišalj which have been given names of flowers and herbs such as cyclamen, orchid, sage, oregano, lavender and rosemary. You can also do some sightseeing along the way and visit Fulfinum Mirine complex or the ornithological reserve Jezero.
To the moon and back! To reach the highest peaks of the island, hike on shepherd’s paths from Punat along dry-stone walls and past pastures or follow the so-called Moon’s Trail from Baška. Your effort will be greatly rewarded all the way with stunning views of Krk, islands and the mainland.
Cycling enthusiasts can also get their share of adventure both on the island and wider, since most of the hiking trails can also be used for cycling or MTB. Explore the northernmost part of the island along a circular trail from Njivice to Voz via Omišalj and stop by Biserujka Cave. Or head south towards Punat and Krk to get a broader picture of the amazing island.
How about combining the island and the mainland for a special cycling adventure? Namely, there are a bit less than 300 routes available near the town of Crikvenica. Having crossed the Krk Bridge, all you have to do is pick a trail leading through the villages of Drivenik and Grižane or along the coast and head south with breathtaking scenery following you all the way.
